I am an extremely fast learner who can think and work on my feet, making accurate decisions in real-time if required. I am dedicated, intelligent and always looking to learn something new from anyone willing to share or teach, no matter their station. I see my greatest attribute as my ability to adapt and up skill quickly, and my ability to use big picture thinking and analytical skills to solve problems quickly.
Presently I am working as the senior application developer at a niche digital agency, targeting the Australian Government and Not For Profit market sectors. As well as custom .NET applications, I work in customising and extending an enterprise grade CMS platform called Sitefinity. I enjoy extending and adapting this software further than others thought it could go, and being a contributor of its direction over the last 4 years.
Starting as a computer technician of 25 computers and 1 server, I was forced to grow my skills and capabilities quickly to meet the growth demands of the organisation, which by the end of my time here, had 200+ computers, 9 servers and 4 interstate offices. As part of my growth was the extension of my role to include proprietary software support and development, management IT vendors and creation of a private WAN, as well as constant interaction with clients such as CGU, NRMA, RACV, AAMI.
I started free-lancing after some opportunities arose through extended networks. During my 3 years operating, I was able to rapidly up skill and broaden my knowledge and service offerings to work within not only the Pick / Multi-valued database market, but also into more mainstream markets such as WinForms / ASP / SQL environments, building and enhancing many large applications and web sites with varying levels of dependency and complexity.
Moved into full-time employment with BRCS after 3 years on free-lance consulting work. Whilst consulting, my primary role was supporting legacy Pick / SB+ applications and building / maintaining WebForms applications that provided batch printing and enhanced reporting functionality for the debt collection market. My primary role quickly shifted to developing a proprietary application to sell within the same market, leveraging Pick / Multi-valued databases and web connected middleware technologies, pioneering a shift in the markets technology. We successfully launched the product and my role was to continue to enhance and support the product. By the time I left BRCS, I was managing a team of 3 programmers and 2 support staff.
Employed as the only IT resource at a small company, my role was to write custom debt collection software to replicate the unique workflow of the organisation. After successfully deploying an initial application in ASP.NET connecting to a Pick database, we quickly moved to re-architecting the application into MS SQL, and after 7 months, launched the first version of application running on MS SQL. My role quickly transformed into that of a business analyst and product designer, rapidly evolving the product within the next 12 months into a mature debt collection product, managing and automating all possible steps throughout the organisations workflow (including integration with the NSW Justice Department), resulting in a tripling of client base, throughput and revenue with 25% less staff members. Inevitably, this resulted in my role becoming redundant.
As an Application Developer, I began working on custom integration projects, leveraging enterprise CMS product Sitefinity with different custom proprietary business management applications. Websilk, as a software services provider, extended their market into the NFP and Australian Government sectors, providing me many challenging projects both due to complexity and delivery timelines. Some of these projects, an example being the Australian Early Development Census (aedc.gov.au), involved not only writing complex workflows to manage multiple user roles, but required the capture of millions of question responses, the strictest adherence to Australian Privacy Laws, and creating and managing the hosting environment (and other devops related tasks).
